Your country is made up of terrain tiles, which have the potential to produce different types of resources. Grain farms appear as yellow-gold planted fields.
If you are not sure what type of terrain you are looking at, place the mouse cursor over the tile and look at the text in the upper right portion of the screen. You can also info-click on the tile (right-click or shift-click) for more detailed information.
